This Man Devotes His Life To Giving “Unadoptable” Animals A Loving Home

When his dog and best buddy died, animal lover Steve Greig set out to give older, overlooked dogs in shelters a new life full of love and happiness. Now, he’s ended up with an entire menagerie.

Steve set out to adopt the “least adoptable” senior dog, “a 12-year-old Chihuahua with a heart murmur and four bad knees”, he says.

Over time he adopted more and more “unlovable” pups and other animals.

And now he has 10 elder dogs, two ducks, pigeons, cats, chickens and a pig named Bikini.

“I grew up with a lot of pets. Both my parents were animals lovers,” explains Steve.

“They pretty much always let me have whatever I wanted as long as I could take care of it.”

“Senior dogs are just wiser animals. These dogs know who they are and it’s easy to develop a relationship with a person or pet who knows who they are.”

Steve gets up at 5am to prepare food and medication for his animals and even pops home from work at lunchtime to take the pups out.

But he couldn’t be happier (and neither could his rescued animals).

He’s repaid in puppy cuddles: “Whenever I sit or lie down at a dog-friendly level, there are always at least three or four of them attached.”

“It’s just fulfilling knowing that these guys are happy and loved and well taken care of.”

And they’re all professional posers, earning Steve a whopping 480,000 Instagram followers.

And turning his bed into one big, fluffy cuddle puddle.

Although Steve doesn’t get all that much privacy.

He’s always got plenty of furry faces to hang out with.

And all these animals who could’ve ended up spending their last years in a shelter get to enjoy days out and lots and lots of love.

“It makes my days worthwhile,” says Steve.
